Sweeney Todd Hartford Theatre reviews
Expected More...
After copping tickets on the spot, I was hype when his show popped up for the night before Thanksgiving. However, after waiting for Sweeney Todd to come on stage for TWO HOURS, it seemed as if the crowd was just over it. He performed the majority of "Church In These Streets," but most of the crowd didn't know any of the songs (except "God") because the album had only been out for 10 days. He then started mixing up the newer records with cuts from his first few albums, and the crowd got back into it. But Sweeney Todd is known for his surprise guest appearances, and he had NONE in a show in his hometown (a rap mecca), except for a quick T.I. sighting. T.I.P. didn't come out to perform a record; he just came out & danced. I think everyone was disappointed. This concert was alright, but I expected more from Sweeney Todd. Anyway, he did 1.5 hours onstage, but cut many of his hits after one verse, and most of the crowd left feeling as though it was okay but was missing something.
